TUTUP TELINGA adalah bekal yang dibawa Danarto ketika menunaikan ibadah haji. Agustus September 1983. Maksudnya adalah ia mencoba untuk lurus beribadah. Tapi nyatanya ada saja hal-hal yang tak mungkin ia berkelit. Sampai sekarang ia masih terkenang oleh sejumlah peristiwa yang ia alami di Masjid Nabawi ataupun Masjidil Haram. Ia merasa jangan-jangan banyak malaikat yang menyamarkan diri sebagai orang berkulit hitam.

Buku yang Anda pegang ini paling tidak menghantarkan 17 surat-suratnya, catatan harian yang ia tulis ketika berada di Tanah Suci.

Danarto adalah pelukis dan penulis cerpen. Lahir 27 Juni 1940 di Sragen (Jawa Tengah) ia pernah membantu pembuatan film cerita sebagai penata artistik. Pernah pula pameran Kanvas Kosong (1973) dan cerpen-cerpennya memenangkan hadiah (1968 & 1983), dan diterjemahkan ke beberapa bahasa. Juga menyutradarai naskah dramanya (1978).
